Couples Therapy Assessment Package

Structured steps towards understanding your relationship, your patterns, and what needs to change.

Understanding Your Relationship Begins Here

Every relationship has its own story, and both partners may experience the same relationship very differently.

The Couples Therapy Assessment Package gives each of you an opportunity to be heard individually, while keeping the focus on understanding and supporting the relationship as a whole.

The package includes:

• A complimentary 15-minute introductory Discovery Call

• An individual pre-consultation questionnaire for each partner

• A private 20-minute assessment with each partner

• A 90-minute joint Couples Therapy Consultation

• An initial assessment of the relationship patterns and difficulties you are experiencing

• Recommendations for the most appropriate direction going forward

How does it work?

If we haven't spoken before, please complete the short enquiry form on this page. This is not your therapy questionnaire and you don't need to share detailed or highly personal information here.

I will contact you to arrange a complimentary 15-minute online Discovery Call. This gives us an opportunity to briefly discuss what has brought you to couples therapy, for you to ask any questions, and for us to establish whether working together feels appropriate.

If we have already had a Discovery Call, simply complete the short form and I will approve your booking so that you can proceed to payment.

Once the Couples Therapy Assessment Package has been booked, I will contact both partners individually with the Couples Therapy Agreement and your separate pre-consultation questionnaires.

Each partner will then have a private 20-minute assessment with me. These conversations give both of you an equal opportunity to speak openly about your own experience and perspective. They are not separate or secret therapy sessions. My role is to remain neutral and to work with both of you and with your relationship as a whole.

We will then meet together for your 90-minute Couples Therapy Consultation, where we can explore the relationship more fully, identify recurring patterns and begin to establish the most appropriate direction for our work.

Ongoing Couples Therapy

If we decide to continue working together following the assessment, ongoing Couples Therapy sessions are: €135 · 75 minutes

Where individual therapeutic work may be helpful, this will be discussed with you first.

All sessions are held online, and appointment times are arranged directly with me.

Please note: Couples therapy requires the willingness of both partners to participate. Completing the initial enquiry does not commit you to therapy or payment.

A Little About Me — Personally and Professionally

I'm Veronika Byrne, a qualified Hypnotherapist and Psychotherapist, specialising in understanding the deeper patterns behind the difficulties we experience in ourselves and in our relationships.

I don't believe couples therapy is about deciding who is right and who is wrong. It's about understanding what's happening beneath the surface, why we respond to one another the way we do, and how different experiences and perspectives can shape the same relationship.

Relationships have taught me a great deal, both personally and professionally.

My husband, Martin, and I have been together for more than two decades. Like many people, I've experienced different chapters in my relationship journey, and those experiences have helped me understand that love alone doesn't necessarily mean two people will always understand each other.

Sometimes, even when we love someone deeply, we can misunderstand their intentions, react from our own past experiences or struggle to express what we truly need.

Over the years, I've come to appreciate just how much can change when we begin to understand ourselves and one another from a different perspective.

That understanding, together with my professional training and experience, is at the heart of how I work with couples.

My role isn't to take sides or tell you what your relationship should look like. It's to help you understand what's happening between you, so you can make more informed choices about your relationship and its future.

Before We Begin

Please complete this short enquiry before proceeding. This is not your Couples Therapy questionnaire, so there is no need to share detailed or highly personal information here. If we haven't already spoken, I will contact you to arrange a complimentary 15-minute Discovery Call.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do we both need to want couples therapy?

Yes. Both partners need to be willing to participate. You don't necessarily need to agree about what the problem is — in fact, couples often come with very different perspectives — but both of you need to be willing to take part in the process.

Will you take sides or decide who is right?

No. My role is not to decide who is right or wrong. I work with both partners equally and focus on understanding what happens between you, including the patterns that may be keeping difficulties going.

Why do you speak to us individually?

The short private assessments give each partner an equal opportunity to speak openly about their own experience before we meet together. They are part of the couples assessment and are not separate therapy sessions or an opportunity to create a private alliance with one partner.

Will what I say privately be kept secret from my partner?

The individual conversations offer privacy, but couples therapy cannot work effectively if I am expected to hold significant information on behalf of one partner against the other. If something arises privately that materially affects our work together, we will discuss how it can appropriately be addressed within the couples work. The usual limits to confidentiality also apply where there are serious safeguarding or legal concerns.

What happens after the assessment package?

After the questionnaires, individual assessments and 90-minute joint consultation, we will discuss what I have observed and what may be most helpful going forward.

If we all agree that continuing with couples therapy is appropriate, ongoing Couples Therapy sessions are €135 for 75 minutes.

In some circumstances, individual therapeutic work may also be recommended, either before or alongside the couples work. Individual sessions are €95 for 60 minutes. This would always be discussed with you first and recommended only where it is appropriate to the therapeutic process.

How many sessions will we need?

There is no set number. Every relationship and situation is different. We will review how the work is progressing rather than asking you to commit to a predetermined number of sessions.

What if we don't know whether we want to stay together?

You do not have to arrive already knowing the answer. Couples therapy can also provide a structured space to understand what has happened in the relationship, what each of you wants, and whether there is willingness to work towards a different relationship together. My role is not to make that decision for you.
